We Will Rock You – Singapore

As you all know, Serge was in the land of Merlion on Saturday and just got back home today at about 1930hrs. He stayed at an area known as One Tree Hill’s Rainbow Mansion and it was where his sister was renting a room at.

His purpose of being there ? The We Will Rock You musical by Ben Elton [WWRY] was held in Singapore’s Esplanade. The showtime which he and his sister watched was the 1400hrs matinee slot on Sunday. WWRY is what one can call fun and just epic awesome. Inspired by songs written by Queen, Ben Elton did a great job on conceptualizing this Broadway Musical.

WWRY begins by telling us about the future where free music has been erased and the kids listen to candy-dispensing music (American Idol), dress up in same clothing and do not have individualistic thought on Planet Mall (formerly known as Earth). Planet Mall is owned and governed by the multinational company known as GlobalSoft for all they hear is Radio Ga Ga, Internet Ca Ca..GLOBALSOFT All the world loves you ! And GlobalSoft is owned by Killer Queen.

Somewhere in the midst of all this madness of singularity is a man, a man who gets this weird tunes and words in his head; Sacred Text, to the Bohemians. His name is Galileo Figaro, though he does not know what it all means. Elsewhere, a Goth girl is being mocked for not dressing up the way people of Planet Mall should dress up. Thus both Galileo and the girl was capture [separate time].

Feeling that being Under Pressure was too much for them, Galileo and Scarybush Scaramouche made a run for it. In a junkyard area, Vic and Oz are combing the area to build some musical instruments; items which are illegal on Planet Mall. They quickly hide when they heard Galileo and Scaramouche arriving [it was at this time that Scaramouche got her name].

Vic and Oz came out and Oz wanted to hurt Galileo as he was spewing Sacred Text. Vic stop her as he believes that Galileo is the Dreamer , the man who will bring back the music. Bringing them to Hearbreak Hotel, Vic and Oz tells the two about themselves the Bohemians and the other Bohemians who has named themselves by taking the names of those who has passed on and those who died young.

Scaramouche is chasing after Galileo with her short legs which Galileo implied that her mouth compensates for it. Yet Scaramouche replied that he [Galileo] did not complain about it last night (they had sex), “That’s below the belt” complained Galileo. The two of them arrived at the Seven Seas of Rhye, where they meet up with Pop who is still looking for the exact date of when the music died.

Pop explains to them the prophecy and played a VAI-DEE-OH Tape of the Sacred Text which was just a part of it. Galileo’s immediate reply was who were the hot chicks, with no remorse Pop told him they were blokes. With knowledge of the prophecy and the location of where the Place of Living Rock pointed by the Bright Shining Star, Galileo, Scaramouche and Pop arrives at Wembley Stadium.

Galileo begins to search for the lost instrument that can break free the chains of GlobalSoft. Scaramouche apologize (for what had happened previously) to Galileo and inspires him with Pop and Galileo worded text from We Will Rock You and somewhere in the Place of Living Rock, a guitar of holy proportions is revealed. Taking the guitar, Galileo begins to play and totally suck at it. Of course, Scaramouche plays it like a real rocker unlike someone who did not manage to become the front-man of INXS.

With the infiltration of the GlobalSoft networks by Pop for Planet Mall to hear, Galileo sang and Scaramouche announced to the world that We Will Rock You and that They (We) Are the Champions, fulfilling the prophecy and ultimately defeating the Killer Queen and ending the reign of GlobalSoft (as well as the show).

But… Fret not, for the Sacred Text which has been stated in the show became the encore song of the musical.
