apparently the infrared lens isn’t a lens but the light sensitive diode. The infrared filter is a layer attached to the lens. Thus his webcam has died.

after talking to albert, serge maybe able to salvage the webcam, hopefully he did not kill the cmos lens. But he did kill his precision screwdrivers though[/edit]
