Free Working

It has been close to a month since Serge has left his job and within that 30 days he has realized something which he should have realized a long time ago. The realization that he has; for the past 6 over years of working, that he is only working because he needed too. To sustain his life, his social standing and to be part of the flock where everyone will say “Hey look it is Serge a fine young man who is earning a good salary“.

A need to work and A want to work is highly contrasting and something most of us were never given a chance to choose for. Some are lucky to be on the path of want as these people truly love their work and are lucky. While people such as Serge and the rest of us out there, we fall in the pool of need.

It became a need to work for Serge as after he finished college and had a debt to pay off. Just like everyone else, having a debt in an early life is never good. So he worked and work he did. Did he enjoy working ? In some cases yes but did he enjoy working for the job that he was in ? Certainly not !

Six years of working, shouldn’t Serge realize something yet ? He should have, unfortunately he didn’t. Heck even Charlie Hoehn took a period to realize something a missed (though his is shorter). Serge wished that Charlie Hoehn’s Free Work concept was out earlier so that he (Serge) did not need to suffer.

The following is a slide show made by Charlie on how to make any graduate “recession-proof”. Why is Serge looking at this when he graduated 6 years ago ? Simple. The words and wisdom from Charlie can be applied to even people such as Serge, who has already worked before. Also, some of the things that Charlie has said rips through the head of Serge for it is true and most will not realize it until someone else points it out.

As we look into this concept that boggles your mind and even the mind of Serge. We due to natural human instinct caused by society’s planning will in fact step back twice from this. Everyone wants to get paid, even Serge for how are we to live without pay ? Serge has always lived in the mindset of keep working so that all your bills can be paid. Never has he actually sat back and wanted to do something which he wants.

Will free work, work for Serge ? For someone who is about to hit the age of 30 in less than 5 years, it is hard to say but damn for him; if he does not try this. Just like what Charlie said, “You only get one life, and you are far too young to succumb to misery”. It will be a struggle and it will drained Serge, but maybe, just maybe that dream job or something that he wants to do will come to him.
