Conversion of Lina Joy
It is rare for Serge to talk about religion and such, but with the recent Lina Joy case; Serge would like to say a thing or two.
But before we begin, we need to know about Lina Joy and what is this issue about. First of all Lina Joy who was formerly known and is still known as Azlina Jailani is a Malay Muslim born in Malaysia. She in the beginning of her life was born into the religion of Islam, later in the year 1998 she became a Christian and adopted the name Lina Joy. In the year 2001, she went to court of Malaysia to file for an official permission to change her religion.
This is the basis of the Lina Joy case which is considered hot in Serge’s country. First of all, due to certain laws in Malaysia any Malay will be born a Muslim whether they like it or not. This ruling contradicts Article 11 of the Malaysian constitution which gurantees religious freedom.
Article 11
(1) Every person has the right to profess and practice his religion and, subject to Clause (4), to propagate it.
(2) No person shall be compelled to pay any tax the proceeds of which are specially allocated in whole or in part for the purposes of a religion other than his own.
(3) Every religious group has the right -
(a) to manage its own religious affairs;
(b) to establish and maintain institutions for religious or charitable purposes; and
(c) to acquire and own property and hold and administer it in accordance with law.
(4) State law and in respect of the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Lubuan, federal law may control or restrict the propagation of any religious doctrine or belief among persons professing the religion of Islam.
(5) This Article does not authorize any act contrary to any general law relating to public order, public health or morality.
Based on the above, one should be able to change their religion freely without some idiot council spanking that persons into reverting back to his/her former religion. But here in Malaysia, it’s a different story all together; as and when a person becomes a follower of Islam either by birth or by conversion (whether by force or self-choice) their life will become the playtoy of the Syariah Court.

Are you not oppressing Azlina Jailani’s choice of becoming of Christian convert ? Where in the the holy Quran was it stated that when one becomes a muslim that person must be a muslim forever ?. Seriously, if someone can show Serge proof; he will keep his mouth shut.

Well now, it is his opinion that those born to be a Muslim is blessed and that in the opinion of Serge is probably Mahaguru58’s personal thought and that thought must be respected in all aspects, no matter how much anyone of you readers think otherwise. Religion is a choice. It is a choice for us humans to take and believe in. How can one say that those who were not Muslims at birth has live their life in blasphemy and useless pursuits ? Once again Serge will repeat this line :

God is God. Religion is just the way we humans venerate our God, whether its a believe that only one God exist or that many Gods exist.

I apprciate your writing, but first, examine these verse from the “Holy Book” as i found it contracdic the article. Pls comment.

Luckily Lina Joy is not sentenced to death because as an apostate she deserved it!

What a joke about people killing in the name of religious-belief systems! They are worst than sewer pigs.
Once I heard a man who never wanted his son to join the military say “send the army to kill those people” on hearing a particular incident. I won’t mention who the “people” is but consider his hypocrisy!
For those who want to kill in name of religion, first prove that there is a god/goddess who can protect their own identity. Secondly ask why that particular deity does not keep convincing their followers. Thirdly have a grand party for everyone to share with others that this deity does not exist and you have not got any answers.
If any religious system practices to apostate a person, interpret that the majority of the people in that system does not want that particular individual to exercise the very thing that religion started for : to worship a deity. This proves the very essence that religion is man made, developed and maintained to keep up to hand over to newer generations to make up their own god and rules bounded to that artificial god.
To choose a way of life is up to an individual, and nobody has right to take that person’s life. It is not the murder’s right to take a life of any human being. Islam is the religion grown over by Arabs. So the expectations of justice are culturally attached to the Arab people. Muhammad brought out rules so that people would be restricted from changing his side in times of fight. He promised to share in looting an enemy [which is very common in Arab life] thus made this followers to easily accept his offer to support his strategies.
Thus changing sides was considered very serious issue and especially when a very prominent person makes this decision to change sides. So another method was used – over come the individual by numbers in a fight. Thus this religion was based on taking another man’s life if there was disagreement. Remember that Muhammad had taken his nephew’s wife claiming that it was “correct” for him to do so. No Islamic scholar likes to mention this because this very act perturbs them also. Muhammad justified himself in taking in a lot of wives while he allowed others to have only 5. This showed how much fear he put into the hearts of the people he controlled through bandits and also to show the difference who he was.
In every culture, the leader always has something extra. A bigger house, or much bigger land, or much more slaves or servants or guards or wives or children or food or all included. Muhammad was no different in this regard.
Then who is the cartoon to say that you cannot choose your own religion? They are worst than the smelly sewer pigs.
Once in every country in particular periods of respective history only the free born had the freedom to choose. The slaves and their children were tied to the choices made by their “owners”. Democracy changed all that. Now all have freedom to choose. Islam is an old fashioned religion and will change according to the needs of changing times. Since Muhammad is the last prophet [according to him and his brain washed followers] then Allah also died with him. This proves that Muhammad made a religion that he only saw for his own leadership and gains. He has never expected the Arabs to conquer West Asia and Northern African regions because he never been there.
So there should be no regrets for anyone to change from Islam its man made and man maintained like another system. And like any system it has changed and will continue to change.
