HP Future Is – Here and Now!

Recently at Rootz Club (Lot 10 Rooftop, Bukit Bintang, KL) on the 9th of December, HP Malaysia and Microsoft Malaysia presented the Future Is. Future Is, is an event that brought leading young and vibrant advocates of technology to talk about the future of technology and what they see in the upcoming future.

These leading young and vibrant advocates of technology and the innovation that comes with it are the ever popular bloggers known as Kennysia, Kinkybluefairy,Redmummy, Jojo Struys and Cynthia. They are the main speakers for tonight’s Future Is.

At around 1930hrs, after Will Quah made some starter notes about the event, Danny Lee who is the Country General Manager, Personal Systems Groups of Hewlett-Packard Malaysia, gave his opening speech. In his speech, Danny Lee spoke about the future of things to come and how we bloggers are the one who is actually shaping the future right here and right now.

Although he did not say it directly, from the tone of his voice and the sparkle from his eyes, Serge will say this “The Future Is – Here and Now”. This is because, when we gather bloggers and bloggers come to gather; they are a community and a community builds a country. We are the future and because we are here, we are also now.

Speech done, the 5 people who has influenced many bloggers went up to the stage to talk about what the Future Is. To repeat, they are;Kennysia, Kinkybluefairy,Redmummy, Jojo Struys and Cynthia.

A barrage of questions was asked by Will and the answers that came out was a mixture of awe and intrigue. Some of the questions that were asked was what they see the Future Is, technology that they can’t live without and et cetera.

As we notice, there are 4 girls and 1 guy. Will who is the man with side-swiping jokes, bombarded Kenny Sia with queries on what he (Kenny) uses the technology for. Laughter filled the room as the answers given by Kenny and the side-swiping from Will, showcase the hidden kinkiness of Kenny and his love for Pamela Anderson.

The other speakers gave really good insights on what they see technology and innovation will be in the future. One striking comment was how Redmummy became subjected to false impersonation. Here she spoke about how her cellular number was placed into an R-rated website (why does Serge feel that Kenny Sia might have called that…?) and how she manage to get that idiot nabbed.

The idea about a built in Google Earth into our eyes perked Serge up. Just think about it, we will never get lost and Serge will not be subjected to his friends saying “On The Way!”.

Sadly the people who was running the event cut the open forum and only one person was able to ask a question. It is understandable to decrease time but this is just ridiculous. For many of us here, wanted to ask questions but was not able to. Serge is not happy.

The closing speech was done by Low Sin Yip, OEM Director of Microsoft Malaysia. Following the speech, Will closed the event by telling us bloggers about the “Blog-A-Trend” contest. The launch of the contest was done by both Low Sin Yip and Danny Lee.

With that over, everyone walked about and chatted. Some went on to talk to the famous bloggers and cam-whored with them. Serge being himself had a nice conversation with Will Quah about The Swimming Instructor. Will Quah is one of those guys who even though is famous in his own rights, is really down to earth.

People who Serge met that were Bernard, Soon Seng, Robb, Vivien, Ee Fern, Tian Chad and others. Serge is sorry if he can’t remember.
