What is Blogathon ?
The word Blogathon derives from the word Weblog and ‘athon. This global event which is a blogger-based campaign is held every year during the summer months (northern hemisphere) for 1 full day (24 hours worth). For 24 hours, bloggers blog for the charity of their choice and visitors makes a pledge. 2008, Blogathon is held on the following date and time :

Who started Blogathon ?
In the summer of 2000, blogger Cat Connor decided that a free weekend could be combined with a marathon session of insomnia to have some fun with her personal website. What charity am I blogging for ? Why ?
Ever since 2005 which was my first Blogathon, I have been blogging for UNICEF.
Ever since my teenage days I have been working around kids. Been teaching sunday school and have been visiting orphanages a lot. And also I’ve seen many talented youngsters gone to the dumps because they just cant get educated due to financial problem and mostly social stigma. Then one day at a college event, UNICEF was there as part of their out reach program to educate the participants of the event about the struggles that children in the world are facing right now.
Think about it, our children is the future, they are the one who owns this world. And what do some of us adults do ? We don’t give a rats ass about them, we believe that because they are young they should listen to us. In which I say bullcrap. With the help of UNICEF, children around the world who are hungry for Education can be taught, hungry for Nutrition can be fed and those hungry for Love, will be loved.

By pledging hourly, I know you would like to see me through the 24hours and it will motivate me not to pass out before then. And even if you pledge one lumpsum. I thank you. For hourly or lumpsum pledges has one common gold, and that is to help UNICEF.
Will You get cheated ?
Definitely not. Blogathon.org and I will not collect the money which you have pledge. At the end of Blogathon, you will receive an email reminding you of the pledge you have made and a link directly to UNICEF. In which you make the donations directly to them.

Sure thing. Just go to my Blogathon category. This contains all entries relating to blogathon. However, because I shifted blog hosting.. 2005’s Blogathon entry is not available.
