Sergeatus : Mama Kitchen
Monday, September 29th, 2008Located at Taman Tun Dr. Ismail , this restaurant here serves one of the best loh si fun in Malaysia. Serious business this place has. Not only is the food good, its affordable as well. Serge was here having dinner with his family and what they ordered was loh si fun, fried rice with salted fish, marmite pork rib, baby kai lan with garlic and lala with something. Last dish slipped Serge’s mind.
The loh si fun, Serge will not comment about it as that is something the audience need to try it out for themself. With all honesty it’s good but Serge isn’t a loh si fun fan to begin with. Skipping review on the lala thingy cause Serge doesn’t eat it.
The baby kai lan with garlic, now this is something. Other restaurants that Serge goes too makes this particular dish either too soft or too hard. Here it is just right, top layer crunchy inner layer soft and yet it ain’t that soft.
Marmite pork rib is one of the best dishes this restaurant can offer. Meat is tender, the taste of the marmite is not too much but perfect. And if you ever get a piece that is without bone, Serge recommends that you chew slowly and savor the juices.
Lastly, fried rice with salted fish. OMFG, generous amount of salted fish and not the wet type but the crunchy type. The rice isn’t soggy and the mix vegetable is about right. When you chew on the rice and bite on the salted fish the mixture of both is elegant that you wonder if the cook has some kung-fu up his/her sleeves.
On a sidenote, if they had more waiters… service could be faster.
All in all Serge gives this place a 4/5 stars.
