Chocolate Sauce Incident
By Serge Norguard. Filed in Culture/Cuisine, Personal |Serge decided to make some chocolate sauce. Like all recipes, one should improvise and not follow the instructions to the tee unless you’re making a bomb. Serge didn’t follow the instructions and the results, some what powerful as you will find out right after the jump.
(no honey was used in this mixture even though a picture of it is in the image)
The ingredients which Serge used was :
1. Mars Bar mini-size x 12
2. A tablespoon of Olive Oil-based margarine
3. A teaspoon of salt
4. 1 cup and a half of whipping cream
5. Half cup of HL Milk
As Serge , wanted to double boil he improvised by using a pan and a pyrex bowl. The pan is filled with uncooked water and the pyrex bowl is placed into the pan.
Then, he open up the Mars packet, chopped it into little pieces. This is to help it melt easier. After all has been chopped, he dumps it into the pyrex bowl with the butter and then covers it. At this point, use a small heat, not a big heat. Let it melt slowly, after 5 minutes or so he removed the cover and began stirring the butter and chocolate slowly. One can add salt into the mix now. The mixture should look like the second picture above, only a bit creamier.
Next up Serge mixed both the milk and the whipping cream together in a pan and heated it up. Do not boil it. And while you do that and your chocolate has become creamy and smooth….
Mix both of them together and Serge recommends that you use a big frying pan when you mix both of them together. Do remember that a low heat is recommended. Now, let it boil and when it starts to bubble let it do so for a good 5 minutes. At this time, wash any utensils that you’re not using.
Once the 5 minutes is over or when you feel it is just right, switch it off. You will know it is right when the level of the mixture is reduced about 1-3% of what one had from the start and you will notice that the color will be a little bit darker. Let the mixture cool down and pour it into a bowl
There it is the result of this recipe.
As this is the first time Serge is doing this, here is some advice :
1. Use more salt (up to your taste), the caramel from the Mars Bar is too damn powerful. That is why Serge skip the honey.
2. Inform your friends that it is JAW-DROPPINGLY SWEET and serve some extremely bitter coffee to balance the effect.
3. If by some miracle you make the concoction just right, remember to RUN and RUN fast as you can. You might be asked for a hand in marriage.
Do leave a comment if you tried this and do tell Serge your results.
