Sub-Urbianscapes
By Serge Norguard. Filed in Events, Outings |Let us begin by thanking Nuffnang for providing Serge with some delicious media passes for the Urbanscapes event that was held at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Center, Sentul Park. Robb is awesome.
Urbanscapes was held yesterday on the 28th of June and it is a half a day event from 1200hr to 0000hr. Serge was to be there until 2200hr but somewhere along the way his body started to act up like an old man so he left earlier instead. Though he was there for a good seven hours of which it is good.
Serge began the night before planning on what time to sleep so that he could get a good amount of sleep. However he got screwed over when he woke up too early and was not able to sleep to wake up at the designated time, thus he knew after that day it was the cause of him needing to get his sorry ass back home earlier then usual.
Urbanscapes, what the hell is it ? For those who has been to this event before, Serge does not need to say..for those who have not and especially to his foreign readers this is what Urbanscapes is all about.

Urbanscapes is organised by KLue and is the first and only all-day “user-generated†creative arts festival. Urbanscapes aims to bring together communities and participants from the fields of music, arts, lifestyle, film under a single banner to showcase the best of the local scene. Consider Urbanscapes something like Woodstock, whereby artist of both the arts and the music scene who we can consider underground and indie, can get up on stage or canvas and rock out to their fans with their vocal powers or their talented art style.
Awake by 0700hr instead of 1000hr Serge did his usual thing of motley crue bitchery and at around 1030hr he left. For he was no homing pigeon and with a sense of direction of a dodo, he opted for the LRT to reach his destination. Two trains were needed and when he arrived at the place where there was to be a shuttle bus service, he had arrived a tad too early again.

Sentul LRT station that was where his ass was. Five minutes had only pass when a group of One Academy students had drop by, they knew Serge and Serge knew them but the both of them forgot on how they knew each other except for the fact that both of them knew a certain person. After much contemplating they agreed on a taxi and speeded off at less then 80km/h to reach their final destination.
He left the group as they had to wait for the gates to open. With his all entry pass to everything, Serge roamed the grounds and began to take some shots for the first 30 minutes before stopping to save the batteries of his canon. During his walkabouts and shooting he stumbled upon Jennifer and her friend. Of which Serge will only say “CAM WHORE!”

Since there was a lot of things to see, Serge was not able to attend every single event that Urbanscapes had to offer. Let no tears fall upon thy cheeks as Serge will talk about what he has seen. To begin we talk about Tongue-In-Chic.
Tongue-In-Chic is KLue’s sister publication was there at the event to bring out the color spectrum at the market place with their fashion flair. Item sold at the market ranged from dresses to shirts to shoes to other knick-knacks. Prices range from the cheap RM 3 to the not so cheap but yet affordable. The Oral Stage was there as well promoting themselves. He spoke with one of the members.

There was this board at the marketplace which can be considered the graffiti board and the things that was written there was nice to see, some even wrote their web address of which one he had seen before. One was Sueme and on that graffiti board a prominent art was there in which he had a gut feeling of whom drew it.
Around the evening part at The Lakeside, an impromptu play was being held by the Rather Peculiar Theatre. Entitled On-the-Spot Street Theatre, it lives up to its title. So actors and actress who were there did what they did best. Serge enjoyed this event as they were able to pull off stunts in an impromptu fashion.

Though one must state that Serge was stuck inbetween a certain situation of which there was scene. A scene whereby these two were to act out as scared/shy animals of different species trying to meetup with each other. Consider it like a shy girl and a shy guy who likes each other but has well issues trying to see each other. Serge became an object in a shocking manner.

There are so many things which Serge would like to talk about yet so many things is running into his head. Though it was just him being there for just 7 hours, the event is good though he will only complain about the food pricing which i a little bit too much. Serge is looking forward for the next Urbanscapes. And other images of the events of which Serge took is available on his Facebook
