Aurum Olympics
By Serge Norguard. Filed in Uncategorized |Shining Dawn is Aurum(Au) in Latin which is the chemical symbol for Gold. This highly sought material has caused many great expeditions to begin and deaths of those who undertakes this is never far behind.
Now in this day and age, death by gold hunting is rare. This year at Beijing, the Olympic Games will be held with over 300 event in 28 sports. As the world prepares for THE Game, one wonders about what the Malaysian government is thinking.
Take out The Star newspaper and flip to page 72. You should see the words Up rewards. For Serge’s international viewer who has just can’t get the newspaper, do go to this link :
Athletics: More money for gold
All of you have read it yes ? Good. Now Serge has a complain a simple complain, Why the hell are these people giving out RM 1 Million to each athlete who gets a gold ? These people should be using that money for something else… like giving a house to those who doesn’t have a house ? Or maybe they could use that money to build better roads or give the poor a fighting chance to live a better life ?
Is that too much to ask ? Probably it is. The worst part of it all is that the group who wishes this is the private sector. The government at the moment will give out RM160,000 for gold and it is RM80,000 for silver and RM40,000 for bronze. Is the private sector trying to suck up to the government ? Is there some pride infested disease in both the powers that be and the powers that want to be ?
Pride in a sense that other countries such as Singapore who is giving their athletes SGD$ 1 million for a gold medal. It is like two male man whipping out their penis and saying, “Look my Malaysian penor is 7 inches long while you Singaporean bastards is just 6.5 inches long”. Mind you readers who comes from far and away, Serge is a male and doesn’t give a rats ass about his penor.
To put the icing on this devil’s cake is the government’s Olympic pension plan. You heard that right, there is a pension plan for those who wins a medal at the games. The plan is such where by it is RM3,000 for an Olympic gold medallist, RM1,500 for silver and RM1,000 for bronze. And this is the cherry topping, it starts on the date that the medal is received.
Now let’s see, Tan Ah Kau gets a gold medal on the 1st of January 2008, his age is 18 at that time. 12 x 3000 brings RM 36000 per annum. With the rate of mortality dropping he would be dead by the age of 90, retirement age for most people now is at 60. 60 minus 18 multiply by RM 36000 will bring it to RM 1.5 million plus plus.
This means that if one even gets just one gold medal, that person is basically set for life. Damn fuckers.
