Terry Fox Run KL [Running for a cause]

At the beginning of this week, Serge spoke about the Terry Fox Run. Today was the event and he was there. He arrived at Lake Gardens with his mother courtesy of a ride from his sister. Serge was just mingling about, talking to people.

Somewhere during the first 15 minutes he met Jeff Ooi, who was there as part of the LensaMalaysia team to take photos of the runners.

Some minor stretching to loosen the muscles and before the flag off some picture taking of one of the sponsors was held on the stage. Sponsors includes , KL Hilton, Petronas, Shell, Lowyat.net and many others.

And while the participants waited for the Canadian High Commisioner to blow his horn, participants kept on adding to the already big crowd. Serge was already on his separate ways, away from his mum. The deejay announced that the run was about to begin, thus it began after the Canadian High Comm blew the air horn.

The run begin, no registration involved, thousands of people moving forward and moving onward to the finish line. All of this is for charity, one thing good about Malaysians is that when it comes to charity events, they are very generous. While running the run, Serge saw some cute girls. Charity events always have benefits.

One might think that the run will be done by old folks or young adults right ? Well Serge can say this, “You’re wrong”. As this race is to help generate funds to help out in cancer research, we must remember that cancer affects everyone. Regardless of age, sex, colour, animals or plants; cancer hits any living organism.

Because of that, in this race Serge noticed many kids and one puppy running the race. Average age of kids taking part ? An astounding 4 years old on average. Got to hand it to them, even though they might not know what they were doing, Serge believes that when they grow old; they will be good citizens. Many thanks to the parents who brought them here and instilling them with such values.

The marshals who station at key points of the race, was good. Good in a sense that they cheered the participants on. Making sure that we made it to the finish line. Kudos to the marshal team for the support.

And in life, sometimes it is good to look to the back to make sure that no one is left behind. For we run to help others. Charity is close to home as the saying goes and if anyone is left behind, let us hold hands to move onward together.

The run was completed by Serge at probably around 1030 or so. Met up with his mum before departing to see Suyin and got introduce to some of her friends which includes Wilson. With the end of the race, there will always be refreshments, participants celebrating and the usual stuff.

It was a good day. Really a good day.

After everyone left, a group was left behind. The Sunway University College people, of which Serge hitched a ride with them. Went to Sunway Pyramid with Suyin and Wilson. There we talk mostly about relationships and being single.
