From Emmy Award-winning writer-producer Kevin Falls (”The West Wing”) and Emmy Award-winning director-producer Alex Graves (”The West Wing”), “Journeyman” is a romantic mystery-drama about Dan Vasser (Kevin McKidd, “Rome”), a San Francisco newspaper reporter and family man who inexplicably begins to travel through time and change people’s lives. Along the way, he also must deal with the difficulties and strife at work and home brought on by his sudden disappearances.
However, his freewheeling travels through the decades reunite him with his long-lost fiancée Livia (Moon Bloodgood, “Day Break”) — which complicates his present-day life with wife Katie (Gretchen Egolf, “Martial Law”) and their son. Reed Diamond (”Homicide: Life on the Street”) and Charles Henry Wyson (”The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”) also star.
“Journeyman” is a production of 20th Century Fox Television. Falls is executive producer and writer; Graves is executive producer and director of the pilot.
This show is not shown in Malaysia yet, that is unless Serge is mistaken. Anyway, this show has it’s potential and will probably tops in his download list.
In the premier episode of Journeyman, we are introduced to Dan Vasser a reporter who is making good in life has a loving wife Katie and their son. After nearly forgetting his anniversary with his wife, Dan Vasser took a cab and this is where his first time travel happened. There he sees his ex-wife who had died in a plane crash. Without knowing why, he arrives at the bar where his wife Katie was waiting for him. They went home and had the awesome anniversary sex.
The year now is 1987 when Dan wakes up. Late on he notices a man standing in the middle of the road and realizes that he wants to kill himself, thus Dan Vasser without thinking about it pushes the man of the road. After introducing each other, Dan finds out that the man who nearly wanted to commit suicide because of a relationship problem is Neal Gaines. Later Dan travels back to his own time. In which Katie is angry as Dan was missing for 2 days.
Thinking that this is just some weird dream, he forgets about it until he finds out that Neal Gaines is an actual person. After his son’s organ recital, he researched about Neal Gaines and it seems that Neal Gaines when on to kill his wife and son.
Later he finds himself in the year 1997 New Year’s Eve. During this visit he sees his past fiancee, who died in a plane crash. The first time, he sees her in their old apartment, and he sees her again during his own proposal to her. After his-self of that time left, he ask Livia Beele (fiancee of that time) for information about Neal Gaines.
With that information he goes to locate Neal. Without being suspicious, Dan talked to Neal as though he knew who he was. Dan followed Neal out of the bus. There we see that his wife and son was about to leave their home when Neal called out to them. With a sad look in his eyes his stepped forward, at this time a bus comes and hits him.
His wife came running and notices that her husband was brandishing a gun, thus confirming that he was going there to kill her and their son. Dan feeling that he did wrong, left the area and time leap back to his time. He calls upon his brother to pick him up and drop him at his residence. At this time, his brother states that what ever Dan is doing is affecting his marriage.
Dan showed to him a recording of Neal’s son saving people and explain to his brother that maybe, just maybe he is traveling in to the past to make it right in the future..
Upon entering his home, Katie asked Dan to leave as she does not believe in him anymore. Asking just for a moment he gets a sledge hammer and a shovel. Curious to know what is happening, Katie follows her husband outside of the house.
Here Dan flipped a table and started smashing the floor where the table was. He replies to Katie that he is saving his marriage. After smashing the floor, he pulls out a box and opens it. Dan then gives Katie a newspaper which had the year 1997 and a ring. Serge believes at this time, Katie finally believes in what Dan said about him going back into the past.
