Who we are
By Serge Norguard. Filed in Personal, Philosophy/Religion |Nathan : I don’t know who I am without you
Peter : Of course you do. You’re Nathan Petrelli, top of his class, valedictorian, most likely to … You’re that guy with me or without me
Nathan : Who is to say, I’m not all that because of you ? Most of what we’re is what people expect us to be and if you take them away nothing means anything.
The above was taken from episode 19 of entitled “.07%” . What has been said is true in some manner. We are who we are not because of what we do, but we are who we are because of the people around us.
Self-individualism happens only when we have other people around us. Without another individual, we do not know our -self-, we do not know of our very unique and self-existence in this world. Take away anyone in the world that is close to us and major changes will happen
Take away the one who you love, the part of yourself that knows how to love disappears. Take away the one who thought you the art of speech, you would not know about eloquence. Take away your parents, your family and your relatives and you lose the self-appreciation that you are a son to someone, a father to a child, a child to a mother. You will lose yourself worth, when someone important to you is taken awy.
For the time being, Serge knows that if it wasn’t for some certain individuals out there, he would not be who he is today. The past cannot be changed. The future will never come. All he can do right now, is to hope that today brings awesome peace. And to hope that everyday, he meets up new people and to discover his worth.

Sometimes we ourselves must know our own worth…we can’t really depend on others for that else we don’t to control our lives, do we?
