Veneration

For some strange reason, days which are meant to be holy…somehow ends up being a day of making money. Such a shame really, we humans are just rat bastards. Serge would like to take an example, St. Anne’s feast day.

St Anne , according to the Catholic teaching has stated that she is the mother of the Virgin Mary, which means that she is the grandmother of Jesus Christ. Anyway at Bukit Mertajam at the Church of St. Anne, the feast day of St. Anne is celebrated at it’s full glory. You can see people from everywhere to celebrate this special day.

Now celebrating a feast day is a noble thing, for you acknowledge and show respect to a Saint. Pay respect, do not venerate them. If you want to venerate…venerate God and no one else.

How on earth did a feast day such as this become a money making event ? Seriously, if one has been to the feast day, you will see people opening up shop selling their wares. Candles for prayer, ok acceptable. A picture of Jesus Christ, acceptable. Food, toys and other non holy things being sold ?? WHAT THE HELL.

You must be a non-catholic. It is clear that your article is written to hit on the feast and Catholicism itself. Please note that permits to set-up stalls at the feast are given out by the council and has nothing to do with St. Anne’s feast organisers. Catholics do not pray to St Anne or any other saint. They only ask the saints to intercede for them and with them to God. Here are some basic fact about Catholicism.

Roman Catholicism is the only Christian religion that started during Christ’s time. All other Christian religions stemmed from it. The name “the catholic church” first started in the year 107 when Ignatius of Antioch used the title to describe Jesus’ church. The term was old even then so it was probably known in the apostle’s time. Catholicism has four main qualities. They are one, holy, catholic, and apostolic.
Catholicism is the oldest Christian religion in the world. With over one billion people, the Catholic religion remains a strong force despite opposition. Catholicism is over 2,000 years old. Through the years, the religion must be more than a human organization, but a holy one.
One - Jesus designed only one church with one set of doctrines. These doctrines are often examined, but their true meaning always stays intact. Jesus has one body so He only has one Church.
Holy - Jesus has made the church holy. No, not all the members act holy, but the church itself remains holy.
Catholic - The word Catholic means universal. Jesus told his apostles to go throughout the world and make disciples of everyone. The Catholic religion is found all over the world.
Apostolic - Catholicism is apostolic because Jesus appointed the apostles to be the first leaders of the Church. Successors were the future leaders. The apostles were the first bishops. Since the first century, there has been an unbroken chain of bishops that pass down the traditions and Scriptures.

    Be blessed.

nice words my dear agnes, however i would like to know… where in my article have i stated that St. Anne is to be worshipped/prayed to ?

What i have stated is that they should be respected, not to be venerated. I know that Saints are here to intercede prayer as the true prayer must be given to God. Saints are here to help us in our prayer, but they are not who will fulfill them.

and just for kicks i am/was a catholic
