Funeral
By Serge Norguard. Filed in Health/Science, Personal |Everyone dies. Them, animals, plants and including serge. We will die unless someone or some organization out there finds a way to ensure that the cell division in our useless body is done properly and still have the ability to do so once we all reach the age of 70++. Of course with the generation that serge is in … make that by the age of 80++. What is it about us ? We fear death as much as our own internal fears. Funny isn’t it ?
It seems that serge’s girlfriend’s pink triangle friend’s father passed away last night. What did the father die off, he has no idea. Heart infarction ? Strangulation by the wife ? A death-bringing orgasm by his mistress ? Who knows ? And who the fuck cares. Serge doesn’t like death, but what is he to do if it happens to someone ? Cry ? Laugh ? Mourn ?
If he wasn’t trained to mourn and cry and such a disastrous moment, he’ll do the opposite. Has anyone realize how expensive a funeral is ? Heck, first of all let’s have a hypothetical death and place the person who has ceased both brain and heart function and is now clinically dead and is now on the hospital bed (obviously). The following is based on some mad calculations by serge
Hospital - $ 200/nite x5
Medicine/Food - $150 x5
Obituary in the newspaper - $50
Invitation Card to relatives and close friends of the deceased - $500
Coffin - $ 1000 (because one is not a cheapskate)
Land for Burial - $1000 (of course this would have been at Nirvana)
Religious Person to perform the rites - $200
Flowers to be tossed - $ 200
Canopy and Chairs - $ 300
Food and Refreshments after the funeral service - $ 300
Total = $ 5300
Just look at how bloody expensive it is to die.

I happen to know that my mom’s dad’s funeral cost about RM10K, but that was because they paid for a one-off, lifetime care of the cemetary plot to go along with it.
RM 200 for hospital stay is too much, darling. Use government hospitals could be cheaper. No invitation cards, just a call. Shouldn’t be more than RM150 (who sends out invitation cards to funerals anyway?)
That said… *Thwaps with paperfan* BE NICE!

Whoa, I knew it was expensive but never realize it was THAT expensive.
Guess if I knew I’m going to die, I’ll dig my own 6 feet so I’ll save some cost for my family …
